Fiber optic cable is the media of choice for network backbone applications, interconnecting locations on the same floor, between floors, or between buildings. Backbone cabling pathways may exist in indoor, outdoor or a mixture of both environments. Tight buffered cables are offered in plenum, riser, and Low Smoke/Zero Halogen versions. Loose tube cables are offered for long haul and outside plant applications or a combination of outside plant and in-building riser runs. Proper selection of a fiber backbone cable assures future network upgrade capability and will allow for new applications or physical expansions.
